Setting Up the Oculus Rift or Rift S for Interplay Learning VR

Ready to dive into simulations with your Oculus Rift or Rift S headset? This guide will walk you through everything—from checking your PC requirements to launching your first VR simulation with Interplay Learning.


🧰 Before You Begin

Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements to run Interplay Learning software in VR.

💻 Minimum PC Specs

  • Operating System: Windows 10

  • Processor: Intel i5-6600 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or better

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

  • Graphics Card:

    • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB or

    • AMD Radeon RX 480 or better


💡 Display Port Requirements:

  • Oculus Rift: HDMI port required

  • Oculus Rift S: DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort required
    (Adapters are not supported.)


📏 Room Space Needed

  • Minimum: 6.5 ft x 5 ft of clear, open space

🧠 Not Sure if Your PC is Ready?

You can check your system’s specs by:

  • Right-clicking the Start Menu, selecting Device Manager, and expanding:

    • Display adapters

    • Processors

A score of 6.6 or higher (High) is ideal.

🎮 Setting Up the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers

You’ll need three tracking cameras for full room-scale VR.
(Only two are included in the box. The third must be purchased separately.)

🛠️ Install SteamVR & Enable Compatibility

1. Download Steam

Head to store.steampowered.com and click “Install Steam”
Create a Steam account if you don’t already have one.

2. Install SteamVR

Download SteamVR here:
Get SteamVR

3. Enable “Unknown Sources” in Oculus App

Open the Oculus app on your PC:

  • Go to Settings > General

  • Toggle "Allow apps from Unknown Sources" to ON


🧑‍🏭 Launch Interplay Learning in VR

1. Install the Interplay Desktop App

Download it here:

2. Find a VR-Ready Simulation

  • Open the desktop app

  • Browse the Course Catalog

  • Look for the VR visor icon on a simulation
    (This means it’s available in VR!)

3. Launch & Learn

Click Launch, put on your headset, and jump into your virtual hands-on training!
