Best Practices for Using & Maintaining VR Headsets
Tips for smooth setup, management, and classroom success with Interplay Learning VR
Getting started with VR is exciting—and a little preparation goes a long way! These best practices will help you set up and manage your headsets so your learners get the most from their Interplay Learning experience.
🛠️ Setup Tips: Start with Smart Accounts
Each Meta headset needs its own email address to create a Meta account. This keeps data organized and allows each device to function independently.
Recommendations:
Have your IT department create generic, unique emails for each headset.
(Example: hvacheadset1@schoolname.edu, hvacheadset2@schoolname.edu)Meta requires one email per device—they must be unique.

Once your emails are ready:
Create a Meta account for each headset using its unique email.
Confirm you're using the correct version of the Interplay Learning VR app—your Account Manager or Implementation Manager can help if you’re unsure.
🧹 Organization & Safety: Set Up for Success
A well-organized space = a smoother experience for everyone.
Best practices:
Label each headset and controller with matching numbers (e.g., Headset #1, Controller #1).
⚠️ Meta Quest controllers are paired to specific headsets—you can’t mix and match them.
Store headsets safely in VR cases or original packaging.
Keep each controller paired with its designated headset.
Designate a VR zone in your classroom—at least 6.5 ft x 6.5 ft.
Use floor tape or a mat to clearly mark boundaries.
🌐 Management & Connectivity: Involve Your IT Team
Your IT department is your best friend when it comes to ensuring a stable VR experience!
Things to check:
Confirm your Wi-Fi network can support the number of headsets being used simultaneously.
Make sure ports, firewalls, and domain whitelisting are correctly set up.

🎓 Boosting Engagement: Let Learners Lead
Get your students involved—it builds excitement and helps them take ownership of the experience.
Try this:
Recruit students to help with headset setup (e.g., Wi-Fi, downloading the Interplay Learning app).
Cast the VR experience to a classroom Smartboard or TV so others can watch and learn together!
