Troubleshooting Your VR Setup
Tips for resolving common VR issues—especially in classrooms, labs, or event spaces
If you’ve already tried the basics—like restarting your system or unplugging and replugging your headset—but you're still having trouble, don’t worry! These quick checks and adjustments can help you get back on track—especially if you’re in a cubicle, open space, or expo-type environment.
📶 1. Check Your Wi-Fi Connection
A stable connection is key to a smooth VR experience.
✅ We recommend at least 10 Mbps download speed
Consider using a dedicated network if possible
📺 2. Limit Screen Casting
Too many connected screens can slow things down.
✅ For best results, cast to as few screens as possible
🔌 If you’re casting to a TV, try turning off your laptop screen
🧱 3. Define Your Play Space
In low-feature environments (like plain cubicle walls), VR systems may struggle to track movement.
Try placing X-shaped tape marks on walls
Add a few distinct objects around the space to help the headset with visual tracking
💡 4. Improve Lighting
Low lighting = poor tracking.
✅ Make sure the room is bright enough to see clearly
Avoid relying solely on dim ambient lighting
🚶 5. Reduce Background Movement
The VR system can get confused by busy surroundings.
✅ Position the user so they’re facing an area with minimal movement
Watch out for:
People walking behind the user
Busy patterns (like bold rugs or moving visuals)
Cluttered walls or reflective surfaces
🔋 6. Plug in Your Computer
Using a tethered headset? Power matters.
✅ Ensure your laptop or desktop is plugged into a power source
A low battery can cause VR shakiness or lag
