Blackboard, Meet LTI Advantage!

LTI Advantage brings a few awesome upgrades over LTI 1.1, and we can't wait to show you why so many users love it.

📋 What You'll Need
Before installing the Interplay Learning LTI Advantage tool, please make sure you have:
✔️ Blackboard Administrator permissions
✔️ Client ID (provided by your Interplay Account Manager)
✔️ LTI enabled on your Blackboard site
🖥️ Deploying Within Your Blackboard Site
Follow these steps carefully to get set up:
Log into Blackboard and open your System Admin tab.
Under Integrations, select “LTI Tool Providers.”
Select “Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool” and fill in the Client ID we provided you.
Once you select “Submit”, you'll be directed to the LTI 1.3 Tool page.
Important! Make note of the Deployment ID on this screen — you'll need it later!
Ensure:
The "Approved" box is checked.
All user fields are selected under Institution Policies.
Grade Service Access is set to Yes.
Click Submit to save your settings.
NOTE: A column for the Interplay Learning content is not generated in the Blackboard course’s Gradebook when the content is added. The gradebook column is generated once a Blackboard user (student or instructor) opens the Interplay Learning content.
🧩 Add a Placement
Next, you’ll set up where users will find Interplay Learning content:
Go back to the LTI Tool Providers list.
Find Interplay Learning and select "Manage Placements" from the dropdown.
Click "Create Placement."
Fill in the following:
Label: Interplay Learning Content
Handle: Create a unique ID (Example:
IL-04182024)Availability: Yes
Type: Deep Linking Content Tool
Launch in New Window: Do NOT check this box!
Tool Provider URL:
https://lti.interplaylearning.com/ltiv1p3/tool/content
📧 Share Your Blackboard Deployment ID
Almost there!
Send an email to support@interplaylearning.com with:
Subject: “LTIA Deployment ID”
Your company name
Your contact info
The Deployment ID you made a note of earlier
Once we deploy your LTI setup, we'll confirm it's ready — and you’ll be all set to start adding Interplay Learning content into your courses! 🎉
🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Issues
Even the best software can sometimes hit a speed bump! Here's how to tackle common issues:
❌ Unable to Register LTI?
If you see the error: "[Client ID] isn't available through the Developer Portal"
It usually means there’s a typo. Double-check that you copied the Client ID exactly, without any extra spaces. Still stuck? Contact your Account Manager or support@interplaylearning.com.
❌ Unable to Find Interplay Learning LTI Once Installed?
If you get this message: "The Tool Provider has been disabled by the System Administrator"
Make sure LTI is fully enabled in your Blackboard site.

❌ Unable to Add Content?
If you encounter: "No single or multi-tenant deployment found for this platform and launch"
This means the deployment hasn’t been finalized yet. Please reach out to support@interplaylearning.com so we can finish setting it up!
